School is Back!

Hey fellow bloggers, sorry for not posting anything for a while, I have been very busy around the house. Yes, school is back for Tyngsborough tomorrow. For any school that gets canceled because of the snow, just make it worthwhile, otherwise you will not like going back to school. For all of those Tyngsborough students reading this, good luck, and welcome back homework. "Use your time wisely," my parents always say, meaning do your wok now so you have more time to yourself later on. Well, I better get going, so I don't fall asleep in class. See all of you tomorrow!

This week we were told to make a speech related to Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech. I decided to do mine on the struggling economy today.

Economy Debate Speech

          I have heard of the troubles of this country, but I am not here to talk about all of them, I am here to talk about the worst of our problems, the economy. If we fix this problem life will become better not only for us, but the whole world.

        I have a dream that future generations will have a better economy than we have now. One where they can afford to go to college. One where small businesses thrive and jobs are open to everyone. One where families can have affordable health care coverage. One where people don’t have to live on the streets. One where there is no poverty. Will our efforts of becoming our own country be or us to end this way?

The benefits from fixing our economy are vast, from winning wars to helping other countries. The restoration of our economy will lead to a higher budget which will help in researching solutions to our problems. For example the demand of energy has increased, but not just the demand for energy but the demand for a cleaner energy that will help prevent global warming, taking care of another big problem that we face.

The consequences from not fixing this problem will drastically affect not only us or other countries, but the whole world. We are digging our own grave with this economic disaster! The earth is at its limit on taking a beating from our pollution, other countries are without enough money and food. We shall soon head in that direction of downfall, where we will stay forever, unless we fix what we can today.

The main thing we should worry about fixing is the economy. It is the fuel to our country’s actions like wood is the fuel to a fire. We need money to help other countries, to help the world, and most importantly to help ourselves. We must stand together in unity to fix this problem so our future generations don’t know the word “homeless” or “poverty,” but also so we can learn to not make the same mistakes in the future.

I will not stand by and watch as this great nation is being brought to its knees by a struggling economy. I know that we must do something to keep this great country thriving. If you are with me… No! You must be with me so our friends, our family, and our future generations won’t be affected by poverty or have to live on the streets because they can’t afford to live in a house. We must remember what John Fitzgerald Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country,” because this is something we can do for our country. We must fix this problem otherwise, (Pause for a second) this great nation shall fall to pieces.

Upfront Debate Article: Is It Too Easy to Get a Gun?

    This article from the November issue of Upfront deals with two prospectives on this issue, one from Colin Goddard (from the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence) and the other from congressman Paul C. Broun (Republican of Georgia). Colin Goddard explains that anyone could go to a gun show or private sellers and pay cash without having a background check on them. "Private sellers are considered hobbyists and aren't covered by those rules," (Colin Goddard) the rule that professional sellers must ask  questions and see ID before the buyer can buy the gun. A criminal could get a gun from a private seller, and would probably get someone hurt for obtaining a gun that no one knows he just purchased. This can lead to tragedies like death and other hurtful things a criminal or a random person could do. Congressman Paul C. Broun had other ideas on the subject say that we don't need a license to free speech so it should be the same case for the right to bear arms. He stated that the people that have a history of crimes shouldn't  be able to purchase guns, but any citizen could have less of a burden trying to buy a gun to protect their home with.
     I agree with both, but I think it would be worse to let citizens get guns to protect themselves, because it will lead to deaths and problems. An example where having a gun would danger you and others is when a robbery happens and the robbers have guns, if someone tries to be a hero and pulls out their gun and shoots one of the robbers, one of the other robbers could shoot that person and two are dead instead of cooperating with the robbers and letting the police handle them.

What if cows gave root beer instead of milk?

I know this seems like a random question, but it's my homework for tonight.

If cows gave root beer instead of milk I would probably buy all of the cows in the world not only because I love root beer, but so I could make some money by selling the root beer to buy things I would want. Well, if cows gave root beer instead of milk, everyone wouldn't get stronger bones because we won't have any milk. Dairy products would decrease drastically and we would have brittle bones! If cows gave root beer instead of milk the world would never be the same.

This is my first time blogging so I hope this is sort of fun. I am mostly doing posts about a young teen magazine called upfront which is based on what is happening worldwide.
